Surveys SENT!

New Painiacs!

Another brief note to let everyone know that the full batch of surveys has been sent out. Please check your inboxes (and possibly spam folders) and try to return your survey in a prompt fashion. We are looking to lock orders on 1/14 and all packages should be out the door by 1/22.

Keith received the proofs of all five cover editions of NPC JUMP, UNcovered, and THE COWARD JOE CLEVELAND lost Superman story this morning. He reviewed the files, asked for a few changes and the books should be going to print today and tomorrow. We'll shoot you over some pictures if the printer sends any; sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.

So again, surveys sent! Thanks for all your help and support, we're excited to have these books in your hands very soon. Which of you will solve the New Pain Challenge?!?

Lovingly,

The New Pain Intern

Smoke 'em if you got 'em!

New Painiacs!

A brief note before I shut down for the evening to let you know approval just came in from Backerkit for the surveys and the smoke test has been sent out to 5% of you. As long as there are no hitches in the wagon trail, the balance of surveys will be sent out around this time tomorrow now. I'll drop another note to confirm that.

"Hitches in the wagon trail." Man, I write some corny sh*t.

Thanks all!

Keith

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, New Painiacs!

Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays, had as little stress as possible and forgot to count calories between Thanksgiving and today. But...now it's time to get back to work!

You can expect an increased amount of communication over the next couple of weeks as the machine lurches back to life. The surveys were submitted to Backerkit on 12/26 and we're told the BK staff are back in the office tomorrow, so barring any unforeseen errors, the hope is that surveys are approved and the "smoke test" batch goes out tomorrow afternoon. We'll keep you posted on that.

Because of the very tight timing between the survey stage/fulfillment of this campaign and the launch of the Daybreak! #4 campaign at the end of the month, I've stepped in to fulfill this campaign myself. There's been an increased amount of lag time from our print/fulfill center building up during the last three campaigns and one of my resolutions is to control the things I can. I expect to have the printed books for NPC JUMP #1 and UNCOVERED #1 in the next week-ish, so I'll get everything prepped while you guys fill out the surveys. Deal? Deal.

One advantage to sending the books out myself is that it's super easy to sign copies for people. There will be an add-on in the surveys to have me scrawl my John Hancock onto your copy, keep an eye out if that's your bag, baby.

New Pain has our publishing schedule for the next year worked out and you can expect a second two-in-one campaign in July, one half of which will be NPC JUMP #2. Hang in there with us, we've got some fun things lined up!

Back hopefully tomorrow with official news about the surveys.

WE DID IT!

New Pain-iacs!

Thanks, guys. We're so grateful that you helped us bring this project to life. None of these New Pain projects are possible without your interest and support and that's not something we take for granted.

Unfortunately, we had a large cancel at the very end of the campaign and as a result, didn't hit the stretch goal for the New Pain refrigerator magnet. Hopefully, that's something that can come to life in a future campaign, I know my 'fridge looks naked without one.

Kickstarter is in the process of collecting your pledges now. Several of you may be, or already have been, prompted to retry or update your payment methods. If you need help with that, there are instructions in the emails from Kickstarter.

Behind the scenes on our end, we'll be finalizing the files for NPC JUMP #1 and UNCOVERED #1 as well as building out the Backerkit surveys over the next several weeks. You can expect surveys to begin being sent out on January 2nd, after we've all made it through the often-stressful holidays, with books being shipped out later in January.

Our next campaign for the double-sized conclusion of our Daybreak! series will launch at the end of January. If you haven't seen it yet, here's the cover for the fourth issue. We're excited to get this one out into the world.

If you've found yourself intrigued by our pal Michael Katz's series  METAL HEAD 2, he's got about 21 hours left in his campaign at the moment. Don't forget that people that back both our campaigns get these free prints from Michael, who has been New Pain's best friend for the two-in-one campaign.

That's all for new, New Pain-iacs! Thank you all again for backing and believing in these projects. No one that has read Jump #1 has come close to solving the challenge yet. We can't wait to see what theories you come up with.

More coming soon!

Your grateful bestie,

Keith Champagne

The Finish Line approaches

New Pain-iacs!

Just about 2.5 hours left in the campaign and we've made some great progress towards our next stretch goal since yesterday's update. We're not there yet though, so one last push and when the smoke clears, we can look ourselves in the eye and say we gave it our best shot.

If you've been waiting to pull the trigger on adding a digital copy of the special lost Superman issue by me and Rick Leonardi, the clock is ticking. "The Coward Joe Cleveland" is a story that I came up with when I was a teenager and it was a great thrill to write it for DC as an adult. Unfortunately, litigation with the Joe Shuster estate at the time prevented the issue from being released. My heart was broken but now, 15 years later, here we are and I hope you'll check it out.

And there are still two copies of this Stranger Things library edition which I'll be adding a remarqued drawing to, if that's your cup of tea. Just drop a note and adjust your pledge upwards by $80 and you'll be basking in demogorgans in no time at all.

Thanks for everything so far, gang. I'll be dropping an update tomorrow, post-campaign, with next steps.

Your bestie,

Keith Champagne
